Weighty Wednesday

Considering the events of the week, I wasn't sure how my weigh in would go. I almost skipped it, but then thought better of it. No more skipping - it is what it is. Surprisingly, I'm down 1.6 from last week.

Total since Jan. 1st: 8.4
Overall total: 28.4

I'm so close to that 30 pound milestone I can taste it! And strangely it tastes like Cold Stone Creamery...with oreos mashed up in there...wait, where was I???

In Loving Memory

My beloved grandmother "Gigi" passed away this past weekend at the age of 91 from complications of pneumonia. She lived a long life, but unfortunately she was robbed of the better part of the last 8 years due to dementia / alzheimers. It's a horrible disease and I hate it for realistically taking her away from me years ago. Saying goodbye to her Saturday night was so hard. But the years that I did spend with her growing up, I will always treasure. No one can take my memories away. One of my all time favorites is how we used to dance to Marty Robbins' music together. Oh how she loved to dance! She was the love of my life, the light in my life and I will never, ever forget her.

Just sayin...

I'm not one to glorify celebrities and their spawn. Afterall, they are just people like the rest of us. I'm also not a big "aw look at that cute kid" person. However, I make one exception. If ever 2 people should procreate, it's Gavin Rossdale and Gwen Stefani. Just throwin' that out there on the table. Discuss amongst yourselves.... (Kingston, call me! Let's hang.)

Weighin' in...

...but didn't wanna! Not much change, but I'm hoping it's water weight gain and bloating because I have been working my tail off at the gym and eating good. Total weight loss since Jan. 1 is still around 7 lbs. Not where I wanted to be, but not gonna beat myself up. Just gonna keep plugging away. Still have one whole month until my birthday, and there is still time to lose another 8 pounds. That would put me at my 15 pound goal. Total lost to date: 27.

On to more exciting things...my MK bag arrived! I don't know what it is, but ever since it arrived, I've been walking around talking like him. *insert MK voice here* "No, honey. You cannot wear that out. That's a fashion crime."

Just kidding! ;)

(For the record, I don't know what that white thing is on my shirt...but I promise I wasn't pulling a Monica Lewinsky!)

Decisions, decisions...

I have a slight handbag obsession. My current favorite bag that I own is by Melie Bianco:

She makes great affordable bags, and this one was only about 60 bucks. Lauren Conrad from the Hills is also a Melie Bianco fan. (you can decide for yourself if that is a good or bad thing!)

I'm shopping for my next bag because a) I'm getting a nice tax refund b) it's a birthday present to myself c) I deserve it. What other reason do I need?!?!?
I'm leaving heavily towards this Michael Kors bag:

But I also love this bag, by Melie Bianco as well.

Obviously, the MK bag is a lot more expensive. But it's Michael Kors. Even my dad loves Project Runway. ha!

Update: MK won out. But I ended up going with a slightly different one from the one above.

Best Valentine award

I just got this Valentine from my friend's "pets"... it wins the award Best Valentine of the day!

FINALLY

Just when my brain was just about to go into reality tv overload, the writer's guild has announced that the strike is over! Haller-lou-ya'll!

I cannot wait for more episodes of The Office, Grey's Anatomy and Desperate Housewives. And for the normal writers at Days of our Lives to get back to work. Because seriously, if they bring one more person back from the dead (I'm looking at you, John Black!), I might just run screaming and naked into oncoming traffic!

Speaking of reality tv - did anyone watch the premier of the winter edition of Big Brother last night? My brother and I are slightly obsessed with this show. We watch it every year. But I am disappointed in the cast this year. Seriously, everyone on this show looks like they just stepped out of an Abercrombie and Fitch catalogue. Gimme a break! Whatever happened to the one reality tv show that had normal looking folks? In the past they've always had all ages, races - and not everyone looked like models. These kids are all under 30 and gorgeous. (Except this one chick who is 40 something - but she is a former model.) They might as well just call this show "Real World in the Big Brother House." Julie Chen, I'm so disappointed.

Equal Free

It IS possible to have my cake and eat it too. Or, shall I say, have my coffee and drink it too. This morning I started back on coffee again, and instead of my usual 2 packs of equal, I used 2 packs of sugar in the raw. I'm gonna try to wean myself down to using only one pack because I know that even though sugar in the raw is natural and much better for me, it is still sugar. But...baby steps. I also bought Silk creamer -- which is actually pretty tasty once you get used to it. It's all organic with no dairy whatsoever.

No weigh in

There will be no weigh in this week due to me coming down with the bubonic plague flu or some version of it. I can't even begin to think about food and exercise right now. Being sick SUCKS!

Wednesday Update: Well so much for my not weighing in theory. I ended up going to the doctor today - not even thinking what that also meant..yep, stepping on the dreaded doctor scale! I wasn't gonna look at first, and then I was like, oh well, why not. I didn't even take my shoes off, and I didn't even care. I just wanted the precious z-pac so I could be on my merry little way. All in all, it wasn't too bad. Certainly not gonna figure it in though to my weekly numbers! lol

Oh and apparently I have bronchitis AND sinusitis. Lovely.

5 Years Smoke Free

5 years ago, on February 2, 2003 I made the decision to put out my last cigarette. I did this cold turkey, and it was SO difficult! For the first few days, weeks, it was all I could think about. When you are addicted to something, it consumes your thoughts. Making in through each craving, that was all that mattered. After a few months, it got easier and easier. There were a few times, however, that I thought about breaking down and buying a pack just for one drag. But I held on strong, determined to beat my addiction. And I did! And for that, I am very very proud of myself.

If you are looking to quit, and need support - I highly recommend the quitnet.com. I would not have made it without that website.
