Drunk as a Skunk

Where am I? Who am I?

video

One more of drunk kitty and his mean sister popping him on the head (cause he smells like the yucky vet)

(No kitties were harmed in the making of this video.)

I'm happy to report drunk kitty is back to normal today. :)

Wacky Wednesday

I wasn't planning on doing another post today but turns out today several weird things happened so I thought I'd share.

a) This older dude came in to our spin class and just stood in the doorway and watched us. Umm, ok. Freak.

b) I was driving home today and a girl was just walking in the middle of the road. Not the side. The freakin middle. I thought she would move when I got right on her, but oh no. She kept walking. Never even looked behind her. Wow. Do you WANT to get run over?!?!

c) I had to go to Publix twice today. The first time was around 10 this morning to get co-worker a birthday card. I got a supremo parking space that I never get. It's like winning the lottery getting this space. After work I went for my regular groceries, and I got the exact same spot again. Twice in one day. Amazing.

I think there was something else but my brain isn't working right now. Wacky Wednesday was in full force today!

Time to get serious

For the past 2 weeks - ok months - my mind has been elsewhere besides losing weight. But then again, it's like this every year before my convention. Anytime I get distracted, I go off track. This usually happens in March around my birthday, in May when I go on vacation, in July for convention, and the holidays. I think I covered all the major distractions there.

So now that convention is over and it's a long way til the holidays (of course I say that and then I blink my eyes and Thanksgiving will be here) it's time to get back on track.

I'm going to start posting my weight loss (or gain) here on Wednesdays again. But I am not going to weigh until next Wednesday to give me a week to kick it in full gear. (Especially since I ate BBQ for lunch and Mother Nature just arrived on her broomstick.)

I'm also going to start posting my workouts to keep me accountable.

Tonight I plan on going to spin class. (Monday I did spinning, and last night I did kickboxing) Tomorrow I hope to go to Zumba and then body sculpt afterwards.

Goodbye Sophia

I have always been a huge fan of the Golden Girls and was SO happy when Lifetime picked up the series years ago. I've seen the episodes so many times, it's ridiculous. My friend Christy and I have been known to break out into "Miami, Miami..." before for no reason. The "Sonny and Cher" epside is one of my all time favorites.

But when I found out years ago that Estelle Getty had dementia, it broke my heart. It was the same disease that my grandmother fought and eventually lost. Tonight on ET, they showed those old interviews about how she would forget her lines in the later years and Betty White said that it was like a curtain that would come over her eyes sometimes. I just teared up. It reminded me so much of my grandmother and what we went through with her. My grandmother was also tiny and fiesty like Estelle as well.

I know what her family is feeling - deep sorrow and loss. But also relief that she is finally at peace. And very proud of the legacy she left behind.
Here's to you "Sophia." May never have to hear another St. Olaf story ever again! RIP

It was the best of times...it was the worst of times...

Last week was really long but the event turned out really good. We had receptions every night and a few meetings during the day. Saturday night we had a banquet for 300 people. After the dinner, we had a DJ and more importantly an open bar from 9-midnight. Woo hoo! That was my time to let loose finally! And boy did I ~ I also learned how to do the Cupid Shuffle. You need to learn to do it also. All the cool kids are doing it.

Here's a picture of me and one of our attendees - she's a sweetheart (and a fellow Gamecock fan)

Just wanted to show ya'll that I ended up wearing the dress and I had a lot of compliments on it. Sooooo that was nice. :)

Here's the bad part: I ate like a stinking PIG the entire week before I went down and while I was down there. So Operation Lose Ten Pounds is on like donkey kong! As a matter of fact, I'm headed to spin class in just a few minutes.

I'll update tonight with a few more pics.

Ok...I'm back. Here's the view from my room:

I took a walk on the beach the first night I was there.....just another reason why I love the Carolinas so much. How beautiful are our beaches?

Sunset from the west

Searcy (treat) in my room when I got back.

Me demolishing my searcy in bed in my room watching tv :)

I know what you are thinking...but truly this was about the only day I got to relax. The rest of the time it was like what beach???

And last but not least, me headed to our margaritaville reception one night.

Smoooooooches. It's good to be back!

Backstreet's Back, Alright!

I'm back, but too tired to do any blogging tonight. Just wanted to sign in and say a quick hello - I'll do a recap (with a few pics) at work sometime tomorrow.

PS Happy birthday Jen!

I'm off!

I'm off to the beach for our convention. Be back Sunday! Wish me luck - this is my biggest event of the year. My dad is checking in on my munchkins while I'm gone - bless his heart.

Oh and I did manage to find an adorable dress tonight at Goody's for only 20 bucks (I got it in black and it looks cuter in person than in that picture). Score!

I am taking my laptop with me -- so it's entirely possible that I could blog from the hotel, if I get time. (cause I know ya'll are anxiously waiting..haaaaa) But probaly not, unless something really exciting happens. Like I spot Brangelina out by the pool with their new twins. How many kids is that now? 16, 17?

And if anyone reads this and decides to break into my house, refer to the last part of this post for more information. I'M SERIOUS.

PS American in Norway, rest assured...come next week, it's on like donkey kong, sister! :-)

Quick update

We're back from the vet!

Big Boy (Elliott) did SO good. I was so proud - he even purred when the vet was looking him over.

Good news: no fleas, just dry skin. He has to eat fish oil with his food now.

Bad news: His gums are infected. :( He has to go back next week and get his teeth cleaned and will also probably lose a tooth! No wonder his breath smells like A-S-S. he he

I heart this boy.

I really wanted this dress

from J. Crew and it's on sale. However, I need a Petite (for my height, not my waist unfortunately) and they are out of my size. I thought about squeezing into it with a spanx but all sales are final and I guess for now I can only drool and dream about "What If...." (What if I looked like that model, what if I could actually wear this dress without worrying about sausage arms, what if..what if...what if...damn you what if!)

If only he knew why mama bought this for him...

...and where's he's going Tuesday morning, he wouldn't look so happy. . (he was purring loudly when I took this pic) Bless his little heart!

And so the countdown begins...

I had decided that I needed to get my mind off this whole online dating business, when I receive a text message from my friend J:

"57 days til kickoff." Which made me smile.

A few minutes later, I kid you not, I get a text from my friend E:

"Call me asap. I've scored us a parking pass."

She did not even have to say what for. I knew. I nodded and started hearing 2001 in my head.

You see, here in the south, college football is a religion. (Go ahead, make fun. Just do it behind my back.) We start thinking about the next season before the current season is even over. And at this point, it's so close we can taste it.

Which brings me to my point - college football rules. But especially SEC Football. Even USA Today agrees.

My favorite quote from Lou Holtz in that article:

"...it's a religion down there, just a passion. We never had an empty seat at (South Carolina)." (ok Lou - you are so right. Except, well, I hope you weren't watching last season when Florida beat us. Bad. Real bad. And it was effin cold. And I left early because they ran out of hot chocolate. Sorry...I'll never let it happen again.)

I get my love of football honest though. My father has had season tickets to every Tennessee football game for the past 30 + years. (UT is his alma mater) I was taught at a very young age what the line of scrimmage was. I knew the urgency of a 3rd down on the 7 yard line. I could spot a face mask penalty a mile away. My father would have it no other way.

And the madness begins. My friends and I are already scouring the schedule - picking out which away games we gonna try to go to. Lining up our parking spot. Picking out our outfits. Figuring out how much bourbon we can sneak into our handbags.

I can smell the soggy hotdogs already...ahhh...

Light Ramblings

My ramblings may get less and less for the next week and a half. As I mentioned before, I have a convention coming up at work. I may or may not be having thoughts of "popping off" (you'll get that if you watch the Bad Girls Club) at my boss. Ya know, just the usual. But at least our convention is in Hilton Head. Oh wait...I never get to see the beach when I'm there. Oh and my hair looks like I stuck my finger in a socket from the humidity.

But not quite this bad:

So don't ya'll leave me...just cause I'm not posting doesn't mean I'm not thinking about ya'll. Or at least while I'm not poppin off. (Take your pick from any of those definitions. Edit: Definition #6 is excluded. Ew.)

Runaway...Bridesmaid?

You may have noticed I have a new blog gal today. She represents me - the eternal bridesmaid. I've been in 7 weddings and was an honorary bridesmaid as well. I've also been a "minister" at someone's wedding as well - although it was just because I'm a notary. (Always the minister, never the bride!)

So me being the "professional bridesmaid" and all, I thought this new design was pretty appropriate. Also, if you'll notice, she's carrying the bouquet. After SEVEN weddings, I finally caught the bouquet in the last wedding I was in (last Dec). Ok...so maybe the bride threw it right in my arms. I had to fight 6 and 7 year olds for that thing! Sheesh. I didn't really wanna take down a kid for the bouquet - so thanks G, for hooking me up! ;)

Happy Monday all!

Hear that toilet flush?

That's the sound of my weight loss efforts lately getting flushed down the drain. I can't seem to stay focused and keep my eye on the prize. My convention is the 17th-20th and I was hoping to lose another 7-10 pounds by then, but it's not likely now. It's possible I could be down 5 by then though, so I'm gonna keep trying. The good news is that I am still working out several times a week - spinning and kickboxing - so I feel darn good about that. I'm strong, I'm healthy and that's something to celebrate right? I just wish these fat rolls would disapear. *sigh*

Also, I'm feeling kind've meloncholy today. (all week actually) *Cue violin music here* I love the Fourth, but holidays kind've suck when you are single. Watching fireworks by yourself is um, kind've depressing. And so I have no plans for tomorrow other than going to lunch with a friend who's birthday is July 4th (cool huh?) But other than that, it'll be me, my DVR, the furry rugrats, chocolate and a bottle of wine.

Sorry for the depressing moment. Hopefully I'll be back to my cheery self next week. Happy Fourth!

Sweet Summertime

Even though it's officially been summertime for about 2 weeks already, I feel like the Fourth of July truly kicks the summer off every year. Down south it's festivals galore, concerts in the park, etc. What can I say, we love our music in the South. Which brings me to the point of this post. I'm about to admit some embarrassing things.

Every summer I have a favorite fun party song that I wear out. A few years ago it was P. Diddy's "Shake a Tail Feather" or whatever the name was. Come on now...don't act like ya'll didn't love it or that you didn't proceed to shake your tail feather whenever it came on. (If you didn't, I'm not sure we can be friends.)

Last summer, it was Kanye West "Stronger." My friend J and I to this day think Stronger is the best song and we (sadly) can sing every line - try us sometime. I will say that JT's Summer Love was a very close runner up (I still haven't figured out how they got my pretty little face on my pretty little frame?!?!? BAHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAA)

Anyhooters...that brings me to this summers pick for my "wear it out" (and slightly white trashy) song...

Oh yea. Me likey. Crank that mother up, ya'll!

Edit: Ok, Little Sister Pixie just made a good point - that NKOTB song Summertime is awesome! It's a toss up between those two :o)

Happy July 1st!

I'm gonna be pretty busy today, so wasn't sure if I'd have a chance to blog or visit all your blogs - so I wanted to make sure that ya'll had something nice to see if you clicked over here. So without further ado...more of the sickening good looking James Scott...don't say I never gave ya'll anything!
