Oh what a weekend!

This weekend can be summed up in the following way: Amazing food, lots of walking, and celebrating with friends, new and old.

We spent most of Friday afternoon and Saturday walking all over beautiful Charleston. This is my favorite street in Charleston below - Church Street.

We ate some amazing food. This was the most delicious brie I've ever had. If you are ever in downtown Charelston, I recommend O'Hara & Flynn.

Friday evening, a group of us rode out to Bowen's Island Restaurant, an oyster joint located near Folly Beach, SC. The place is pretty shabby looking (read: my kind of place), but the seafood is "right off the shrimp boat" fresh.

Sunset at Bowen's Island over the stacks and stacks of oyster shells.

Here I am with friends at the reception Saturday evening.

I brought my Nikon with me, and of course on the way there I realized I had not put the battery back in the camera. Can we say absent minded?? So needless to say, all of my pictures are mostly from my camera. Hopefully I'll be able to upload more as they had some professional pictures taken Saturday evening.

I am exhausted from the weekend but had such a great time. Charleston with good friends equals a wonderful trip. Hope you all had a great weekend as well!

Scent-tastic

There are two smell-good products that I am loving right now and wanted to mention. I don't brag about products very often on my blog. It's just not my style. So when I do, you can be sure it's that good.

Product A) Caress Body Wash, Whipped Souffle White Peach

I can't say enough about this body wash. It smells DEVINE. I want to eat it. I could stay in the shower all day. It's around $4 at Target, I believe. The smell lingers on your skin, and it leaves my skin feeling very hydrated and soft. It does go on a little on the thick side, therefore it take a little longer to wash off. I don't mind that at all though. Another bonus? It's so thick and creamy, you can use it as shaving cream if you like. Did I mention it smells FAB?!

I haven't tried the raspberry yet, but imagine it smells just as good!

Product B) Pomona Turkish Pomegranate Shea Cream

I found this by wondering around World Market during lunch the other day. Usually when I smell "perfume-y" lotions, I don't like them. But this one smelled wonderful, so I put a dab on my arm and walked around some more. I kept smelling my arm (which I'm sure looked so charming to someone walking by me) and decided by the time I got back around that I had to have it. So I did. Side note: Did y'all know WM has the cutest jewelry too??? Must go back soon.)

This would probably feel amazing on your skin after getting out of the shower. But since the Caress smells so good, I keep this at work and use it on my hands and arms randomly throughout the day. And yes, I smell myself all day long... :)

It's around $10 for a jar.

Happy Birthday, Crazy

After I moved into my very first place ever on my own, I immediately went to the local shelter and adopted a kitten. Her nickname is Crazy . That was 11 years ago this month. A lot has happened in 11 years. And through it all, Crazy has been by my side.

Crazy is a little, well...crazy, but I love her :) Happy Birthday!

Well Hello Monday!

Here's what's been going on with me lately:

The first week I got back on Weight Watchers, I tracked my food every day and I lost 4 pounds that week. This past week? No tracking, and very little exercise. I gained one pound. Awesome.

Granted, it could have been worse. But the moral of the story is: Weight Watchers works. But as they love to tell you at meetings, it works "if you WORK it." So, back to tracking this week.

The Cub (who I might rename bc I don't want to focus on the age difference anymore) and I painted my bedroom weekend before last. As soon as it is all put together, I will take some pictures with the Nikon and upload them. It looks much better. Here he is a sneak peak of the room and the Cub:

A few of my single girlfriends and I have already purchased our advanced tickets for Sex and the City 2! Opening night is May 27th! We are so excited.

Spring / Summer in the South means one thing. It's wedding season! The next month or so I have 3 weddings to attend! This means I need dresses. Stat. One is this weekend in Charleston. I can't wait! The Cub cannot go with me :( He has a wedding to go to as well. Very sad, as a weekend in Charleston together would have been so much fun.

This week will be week 3 of our introductory Pilates classes. After we "graduate" from the intro classes, we can begin Level 1 class. So far I really like it, and I am so fascinated by how technical and challenging it is. Everything I thought I knew about Pilates in the past is wrong. It's all based on your breathing and doing the motions exactly right. And the motions are so.very.tiny. I can't wait to build up a firm core. I already feel my posture improving!

Last but not least, I will be going to Folly Beach in June to take some familiy photos for some friends of mine and their family. I am looking forward to it but am also nervous! I have never done a group photo session before, so this should be interesting. I hope to get in some practice shooting soon. Any tips for taking pictures on the beach? Regardless, I have got to find a way to incorporate the lighthouse in the pictures.

Have a fabulous week everyone! Going to login my breakfast on the WW site! :)

Am I following you?

I have a question. When I click on a "follower" over on the left, I sometimes am unable to pull up the person's profile. If you have a blog, I'd love to check it out and most likely follow you back. But I must be doing something wrong, because more times than not, I cannot view the person's profile.

Amy suggestions? Blog about Mother's Day weekend and other miscellaneous nonsense coming shortly! :)

Wednesday Weigh-In and a Quick Update

I'm down 2 pounds from last Wednesday, yay!

This whole weigh-in process is going to get confusing, because my Weight Watchers weigh-in is on Wednesday mornings. My office Biggest Loser weigh-ins will be on Tuesday mornings. Crazy!

Also, last night I went to a fundamentals of Pilates class (that link is to a site where you can read about the history of pilates. I found it pretty fascinating). All I can tell you is that most every DVD that I've ever done on pilates was incorrect. Apparently you have to focus 100% on your breathing for it to work properly. It's also completely different from Yoga. At our gym, they make you take a 4 week intro to pilates (one session a week) before you can even begin Level 1. Intense! I'm very excited. The instructor was terrific as well.

I also started back on the Couch to 5K program, week 3. This is a very basic walk/run combo, but I am just trying to get my body used to moving on a regular basis again. And I'm not training for a race at the moment, I am just trying to shed some pounds. I think as I progress on the program, and the weight comes off (hopefully), I will be ready to start running again. My friend M has been running non-stop and she wants me to train for a half marathon with her in the fall. Yikes, yikes and DOUBLE yikes! We'll cross that bridge eventually.

On a totally unrelated note, The Cub and I are painting my bedroom this weekend. This shall be interesting...I hope we don't kill each other. =)

Lazy Lake Days

This weekend, The Cub and I packed up his truck and headed to Lake Wateree. We had a great time, and spent most of the day out on the boat just tooling around the lake with some of his friends. I've only ever spent time at Lake Murray which is a lot bigger and busier than Wateree. I found this lake to be so peaceful and very pretty! We had a great time, and of course, drank wayyyy too much beer. Something about being out in the hot sun all day. The cold beer just flows way too easily.

For dinner we grilled burgers back at the house, and hung out on the dock.

After dinner, we changed clothes and headed out to a local bar across the lake. Needless to say, I was WIPED by the end of the night! I took a 3 hour recovery nap yesterday afternoon. :)

Sorry there are no other pictures from the lake. I promise to do better next time.

Also, I've been doing pretty well with WW so far! I took a day off from WW on Saturday, because with the beer and burgers, it was pretty much blown wide open. But other than Saturday, I stayed on track and within my points. The only thing I did NOT do was get in my activity points. So, that's got to be a priority for me this week. My weigh in day is Wednesday morning.

Hope you all had a fabulous weekend as well!
