I started a Tumblr to document the journey and also for motivation. Follow me here if you like:

Every day I doubt that I can do this...but every day I am also reminded that I CAN. Isn't it funny how sometimes we find inspiration in the craziest things?? When I am running, I listen to all kinds of music. It just depends but a lot of my songs are top radio hits, because they are new and have a good beat to run to. I also spend a lot of time listening to the lyrics.
The other day I ran outside for the first time in months. I was only supposed to run 2 miles, but when I got to the last 5 or so minutes of my run, I could feel the tears piling up in the corners of my eyes. My legs felt like logs. I thought about how in a few short months I'm going to have to run 13.1 miles and if it felt like today, I'd never make it. I was feeling pretty much like a failure and really beating myself up in my head.
Then this silly song came on my Pandora station and I started listening to the lyrics. It's really about a girl comparing her boyfriend to another boy. Apparently her boyfriend tears her down and is not supportive and this other guy is. And as crazy as this may sound, I think in that moment God wanted me to think of these lyrics in terms of Him and how He thinks about me. And how I shouldn't listen to the negative thoughts running through my head at that moment. And so I did. And a funny thing happened. It got me through the end of my run and I felt AWESOME.
According to Him
I'm beautiful,
incredible,
he can't get me out of his head.
According to Him
I'm funny,
irresistible,
everything He ever wanted.
Everything is opposite,
I don't feel like stopping it,
so baby tell me what I got to lose.
He's into me for everything I'm not,
According to Him
Like I said, it's a silly teeny bop song. Laugh if you must. But for me, it worked. And that's what it's all about. Finding inspiration in little things throughout the journey that will ultimately propel you to the finish line.

Girl.. you can do it!! I feel your pain though.
When I tried running I felt the same way and gave up.
You should NOT do the same! The little engine that could/would!
i like it.
Amen, sister.
I so get you.
Run on!!
I LOVE that song! I did a post on it one time actually :)
Girl - I have nothing but 100% faith that you are going to do JUST AWESOME in that half!!! And be prepared because you are going to have some BAD BAD days of training where you feel like "what have I signed up for" ... but hang in there because there will be other days & you'll be like, "Hey - I can do this"... its a road.
They always say, "if you want a race, run a 500 yd dash - if you want an EXPERIENCE, run a marathon" - you're in for a wild ride of an experience... but oh girl - the accomplishment you're going to feel is worth the journey.
... accomplishment or a beach cottage... one or the other :)
I BELIEVE you! You can do it :)
Love that song! You go girl. You can do it. You can do more than you think you can. Good luck with your training!
I soooooooooo know you can do this!!!! GREAT post!!! We'll ALL be cheering you on, my friend! SO incredibly proud of you!!!
You are amazing!! :-)
It is the little things that matter and that song is AWESOME!!! I must admit I really like Miley Cyrus's song The Climb for very similar reasons. :)
I have faith that YOU can do this! By the way, don't laugh, but I like this song by Orianthi! :-)
You are an amazing person! So inspiring and we believe in YOU! xox
Girl you got this!!
OK, I have not run a half marathon, but the reasons why you can do this logically) are:
1. If you had to walk the entire thing, you could, and it would not take THAT long AND; (maybe you should do this one day)
2. You are training now when it is REALLY hot, but by October, the temps will have moderated and you will be faster just because the conditions will be better.
I know you can do this! You are such a strong amazing person. And believe me, once you get to the race, there are so many people there that will inspire you to keep going. And before you know it, you'll be running 5 miles a day and then 10 and then 13.1 won't seem like so much! Did I mention you are awesome?
