How much do you sleep at night?

Last night I slept for almost TEN hours. And the night before I think it was close to 9 hours. And yet when I wake up each morning it's still such a struggle to wake up. I don't understand how people pop out of the bed every day. I truly don't. I'm so exhausted every morning to the point where I feel like Im fighting to come out of a coma. I sleep as long as possible and then of course I'm running behind every single day. I'm pretty certain I could sleep 12 hours every single night and still be tired in the morning. Sad. I feel like I NEVER get enough sleep and I live for Saturday mornings where I can sleep in. Which never happens of course.

I have also considered a no pets in the bedroom rule. I tried it once, but of course I ended up letting them in because they were either meowing or pulling on the door. And I kind've enjoy sleeping with them. But if it's messing with my sleep, maybe I should rethink it.

How much do y'all sleep? Or how much do you need to feel normal? My old boss slept on average 3-4 hours every night. That is INSANE to me. Well, he was insane so that pretty much makes sense.

Sincerely,
Sleepy Dwarf

PS Y'all. I just googled sleepy dwarf and there is a legit "sleepy dwarf personality" haha! Yep that's me...

Have you had your thyroid levels checked? I still hate getting up in the morning but I rarely have very sluggish days anymore.

If you think there might be something medical, a sleep study might be worth it. I'm older and was diagnosed with apnea - now have a machine that helps me sleep 6-8hrs solid every night, and it's better more solid sleep at that.

I usually average around 6 hrs of sleep every night... that alarm at 4:30 really bites!! But the Hubs is having trouble sleeping & gets by with like 3-4 hrs.. that would wear QUICK on me.

Never enough! I have 3 kids and a dog, so someone always interrupts my sleep.

You really got to be consistant with sleep. You can't stay up late one night & try to make up for it another night.
It sounds painfully boring & restrictive - but if you go to bed the same (decent) time every night including the weekends you'll notice a shift in how much better you do sleep & how much more rested you will be once you wake up.
For me - I sleep best at 9 hours.

I am lucky to get about 6 hours a night, but now that I have moved I am hoping to get closer to 8 hours. That is still not enough sleep for me, but it is the best I can do during the work week. On weekends I can go down for the count and get 10 hours if I am lucky. I usually feel refreshed after 9 or 10 hours, but only if I wake up on my own. Any time I have to use an alarm and am "forced" awake, I am pretty miserable all day long.

I struggle too, I could sleep my life away if someone let me, and no matter the amount of sleep, its like waking the dead and takes me til about lunch to feel like I am ready for the day. I can never get used to it. I envy morning people! I dont even stay up too late, so, who knows. Nothing better than sleeping in on the weekends though!! :)

I struggle too. It doesn't seem to matter how much or how little sleep I get. My father is like your old boss and I don't get it.

I was like that. . . got to the point where I would fall asleep at red lights on my way to work. Doctor told me I wasn't reaching full REM (deep sleep). The Rx was stupid expensive, so I started taking 3mg of melatonin every night and it changed everything after about a week.
