I say the dumbest #$!*& sometimes.

For example:

Today, my sweet coworker who is going through chemo came by the office wearing her scarf and a mask. She looked so tiny and pitiful bless her heart (but still had her toes painted and her scarf was super gorgeous!). As she is attempting to climb the stairs in our office, I brilliantly say "Those stairs are tough even for normal people."

Real nice, Clark. Reeeeal nice.

Do you have a type?

I will admit...I LOVE me some salt and pepper fellas. I just think it's such a hot, manly look (on most guys). Here are just a few of my favorite celebrity salt and peppers. There's a few I know in real life I'd love to post a pic of but that would just be creepy. ;)

What's your type?

Oh sorry, how did Clooney get in here twice??? My bad ;)

Memorial Day Weekend

This past weekend we celebrated a friend's birthday in Hilton Head and despite the threat of Tropical Storm Beryl, we had some great weather! It was a bit windy on the beach so we ended up pool side instead (we certainly did not complain). We ate too much, drank too much but we had a blast so I consider the weekend a success!

Delicious Bloody Mary's at the Black Marlin in Hilton Head. Great views of the marina!

Happy Birthday Cindy (a little belated) :)

Just catchin' up...

Sorry for the lack of posts lately! I can honestly say life has been busy as a beaver. But it's been fun!

Last week, I spent a few days in beautiful Charleston for work. One night, one of our vendors took us out to dinner to Bowen's Island. If you ever spend any time in Charleston, and don't want to eat at some of those high-falutin', over-priced, over-hyped restaurants in downtown and want to get away from all the tourists, head over to Bowen's. Just dress casual and enjoy the beautiful views of the SC lowcountry. And if the owner Robert says local oysters are on the menu, and there's no "R" in the month, you can bet your ass they are still good and in season. Slurptastic!

When Friday came around I was ESPECIALLY happy because my long work week was over and I was headed to beautiful Kiawah for a girl's weekend that had been in the works for months! Had an amazing time and can't wait til we plan the next one. We had drinks and supper one night at the Ocean Course at Kiawah, and snuggled up on the joggling board for a pic. (I embarrassed my southern friends by asking "What's a joggling board?" but once I saw it, I remembered!)

Snuggle, snuggle!

Christina's mini icebox cakes that she just...oh you know...whipped up one night for us. No big deal.

My shell that I found on the beach. That I thought I lost but no worries. It was found. We never leave a man behind.

Thank you Crist for organizing and hosting all of us!

Happy Memorial Day weekend everyone! Do y'all have big plans? It's such a fun weekend and it means summer is coming! So many parties, cookouts, and delicious.summer.produce.is.coming! But hopefully we'll all take some time to remember the true meaning of Memorial Day... a day of remembering the men and women who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces.

Weekend Updates

I had decided on Friday to take a twitter friend's advice and use the weekend as a "reboot" to get back on track with my eating but who does that on Cinco de Mayo???? Well, I still tried. Friday I went to the gym and did weights and cardio and Saturday I walked 3 miles (even got a little bit of sunburn on my walk - it was hot!) I went to a friend's house and we chowed down on chips and queso and Skinnygirl Margaritas. I decided that even though it doesn't taste quite as great as the original, the calories you save? Totally worth it.  She also made a chocolate cake using yogurt as an oil and egg sub. OMG. Amazing. I will get the recipe and share. It was deeelish.

Then we waited for news from her sister who was having a baby on Cinco de Mayo! How fun! And she and her husband waited to find out the sex of the baby so it was doubly exciting to hear that they were having a little niƱo! I think it's so cool when people wait to find out the sex.

Sunday I went to church. My church friend and I are considering doing a Bible Study that starts in June. I think it will be a good way to  not only study the Word but also meet some people from the church. After church I went grocery shopping and bought a ton fruits and veggies for the week.

A few of you suggested to me from my last post that I seem bored lately. Perhaps. I think I just a new routine. I joined a new gym and am getting involved in church now. I'm planning trips with friends - a San Fran trip and a NYC trip. So maybe with all that combined I can shake the funk from the last few months. And maybe I just had the winter blues? I hate the summer heat but summer is without a doubt, always more fun.

Happy (that's debatable I know) Monday!

Bullies: Don't Be One

I can't stand bullies. And what's worse than kid bullies? ADULT bullies.  I watched Kristen's vlog today and thought I would share it with y'all. All I have to say after watching it is WORD. I would have SHANKED those women.

Honestly?

  • I still haven't lost any significant amount of weight since last summer, despite the fact that I am always trying. I gain one and I lose one. Lather, rinse, repeat.
  • I have anxiety when my family goes on trips. My brother and my parents are all traveling this weekend I am terrified something bad will happen to them. I pray constantly when they travel. I just need to have faith that God will look over them, but I still worry. Sorry Lord...
  • I started reading 50 Shades of Gray. My friend asked me to text her where I was in the book. So I texted her back and told her....VERY explicitly where I was. But instead I sent that text to my father...yeah...
  • My high school senior class is having a reunion this summer and I don't want to go. There were only 11 of us, and there are a few I'd like to see (and have seen). But a few I REALLY don't want to see because honestly? I still hold a few grudges towards a few that were mean to me. But guess what my devotional was about this morning? Holding grudges and forgiveness...
  • I'm still loving the new church and I've been every Sunday except one. I love the Pastor, the music, the people and just the overall good feeling I have when I leave.
  • I'm ashamed that I blogged about and remembered David Beckham's birthday yesterday and didn't remember until later in the day that it was my beloved grandmother's birthday, who passed away 4 years ago. She would have been 96.
  • My car engine light came on last week right as my car rolled over 78,000 miles on the nose. I find that suspicious and have not taken it in to the garage yet. Of course, it'll probably break down any minute now.  I also had new car itch a while back. That has passed because you know why? NOT HAVING A CAR PAYMENT ROCKS.
  • I want to buy a juicer but I'm afraid that it'll just be another trendy thing I want and I won't use it enough. Any of you have one and use it regularly?
  • Lately I've been having the occasional urge to smoke a cigarette. Not enough of an urge to make me actually do it but I'll see someone smoking and I'll remember how much I used to enjoy it occasionally on the back porch with a glass of wine. And then I remember HOW DANG HARD (seriously people..quitting is brutal) it was to quit and the urge passes quickly.
  • I have had thoughts of picking up and moving somewhere else lately. But I won't because I'm too attached to my family. But sometimes I just wish I could make a change. My life feels like it's in a rut lately and I can't seem to shake it.
  • However, having lunch with your bestie who moved away recently makes it all better....

Happy Birthday Mr. Sexy Pants

This post is dedicated to my friend Julie. Two of her favorite celebs in the whole world had major events this week.

First, happy 37th birthday Beckham! Sleeves are kind've hot. Well on him at least :)

And happy "OMG JESSICA FINALLY HAD THE BABY" day!!! Congrats Jess!(My friend Crist actually said yesterday "y'all...Jessica Simpson was pregnant??" Oh bless her sweet, dear, heart. We need to get her out more.)  So what do y'all think she does next? Weight Watchers? Jenny? A maternity/baby line of clothing? Personally we're still holding out for a Nick and Jessica reunion and another reality show for them. We can dream right?
