To lie about your age or not to lie?

A few weeks ago I casually met up with this guy for a few drinks. Sometime during the date, he asked me how old I was. (Obviously he was not from the south because southern boys know to NEVER ask that question on a first date). I laughed and said, well I'm pretty sure I'm older than you (he looked early 30s). And he said "there's no way." So after this cutesy whatever exchange for a few seconds, I finally told him that I am 38. His mouth dropped. Then he told me that he was 35. He told me he never would have guessed I was 38. I laughed and said thank you. I took it for what it was - a nice compliment.

Than he said "If I were you I'd lie about my age." What?

Here's the thing. I know he meant it in a nice way. He was saying I look younger than 38 so I should just tell people I'm younger for the fun of it. But it definitely made me stop and think - if I were to do a match.com profile tomorrow, should I lie about my age? And what would be the point of this - to try to catch the attention of men that normally would never consider my age bracket?

Pass. I know there are some men out there that would not consider dating a 38 year old woman. That's ok. I probably do not need to be dating those men. I actually prefer the men I date to be a little bit older than me anyway. I like to be the younger one in the relationship - ha! The last guy I dated was a good bit younger than me and it bothered me more than I let on sometimes.

Have you ever lied about your age in an online dating forum? Would you ever consider it? Should I consider it?

Oh one more thing...

You're welcome...

A Monday Vent

Not too long ago, a link went around the internets describing a girl who had lost a very significant amount of weight. I believe they interviewed her on The Today Show and maybe some other shows. Naturally everyone wanted to know what she was eating and overall how she lost the weight. My first thought when I read it was wow! You go girl. Good for you. You've successfully done what I've been trying to do for years. You lost the weight.

But the next thing I saw was disturbing to me. Websites, tweets and tons of other posts tearing this girl down all because of what she ate occasionally.  It was straight out of Mean Girls. She ate things like Smart Ones frozen dinners (say it isn't so!) bread thins (GASP) instead of real bread and sugar free pudding (oh the horror!) from time to time. I can't remember the other items, but yeah, they weren't all exactly on the "clean eating" list.

Are there better options out there for her?? ABSOLUTELY. All I am saying is that at the end of the day, she did what she needed to do. Being overweight puts you at risk for so many health problems down the road. KUDOS for her for losing the weight. Now maybe she can focus on adding in some more healthy options to her diet and make some better selections in the future.

The biggest problem I had was the way so many people just wanted to attack this girl and her food selection. It was very disturbing to me.Why? Is it out of jealousy? Why can't we just be happy for her? If her food choices are not for you, then great! Do what works for you. If you have family members that are making unhealthy food choices, then help them make better choices with positive feedback. "Hey, I know you think this is a really healthy choice, but I actually know something that is much healthier and you will love it!"

Personally I try to eat clean most of the time. But I do have times where I will buy something processed or lower in fat just because I'm trying to save a few calories here and there. It doesn't always work and it isn't always the right choice. But it's my decision. And I do what works for me

As I prepare to step down from my soap box, I leave with this last thought. Stop the negativity and mind your own plate. And waistline...

Cruise pics!

Staircase picture. Jack was not at the bottom sadly.

First day at sea.

Fun in the Bahamas despite the rain.

Nice couple at dinner getting their photo taken...along with Shannon and I in the background.

Getting off the ship to go shopping despite the weather.

80's night on the ship. So.Much.Fun!

Our sexy cruise director Matt. If you book a Carnival cruise, you want to be on his ship. Trust me.

Lido deck action.

Photo with the Captain.

Shannon expressing her feelings about the weather.

Shots!

Some of the crew. And the cute ones behind me and Lisa were very handsy... and saying things in Italian I really don't want to know.

Typical me.
Despite the crappy weather, I can't wait to book my next cruise! I also have another fun trip planned in 3 weeks. That's one perk about being single and no kids....traveling as much as possible! :)

I'm baaaaaaaack

Just got from a whirlwind cruise to the Bahamas where we thought we'd spend several days in the sun, swimming, snorkeling, drinking, eating, etc. on an island. Nope. Instead we got what pretty much looked just like a tropical storm/miniature hurricane. For two days straight.  Rain, thunder, lightening, wind gusts that would almost knock you to your feet.  REAL NICE, Bahamas. You haven't had rain in months and you choose my vacation to have yourself a little monsoon. So hospitable of you.

However, we still made the best of the days at sea - I mastered the super slide (and by mastered I mean I screamed the entire way down - that's what she said), learned how to do the Wobble, stalked..uh I mean hung out and danced with our cruise director each night, and had soft serve ice cream morning, noon and night.

Will post more pics as I get them...stay tuned! Also, I cannot wait to show y'all a picture of a lovely couple getting their photo taken at dinner one night. My friend and I successful photobombed it. It's epic.

Meanwhile, it's back to reality tomorrow. Instead of my breakfast buffet on board the fun ship, I'll be having instant oatmeal while sifting through 5 million emails at my desk. Sitting at my not-so-fun desk. And try to figure out how to lose the 10 lbs I probably gained the last few days...woof.

Going to the movies with Katy Perry

I love going to the movies. It's my happy place.  I'd go every weekend if I could afford it. I love the snacks (but not how expensive they are), the previews, the whole experience is just the best.

This past week I saw the Katy Perry movie. I love KP so this was right up my alley. My friend and I sang through the entire thing. It was so much fun! I can identify with the way she was raised somewhat. It was also super sad, as they showed you how hard it was on her while her marriage was breaking up. There is one scene where the cameras catch her breaking down right before she's supposed to go on stage. It's heartbreaking to watch especially if you've ever experienced something similar in your own life.

Go see if you like her music! Bonus: It's in 3D. Fun!

I take it back

Ok Channing Tatum. You win. I take back what I said in my last post. When I've recovered and can put together coherent sentences on this movie, I'll report more...

Celebrity Hunks that just don't do it for me

Some of these - ok - most of these are going to be very unpopular choices with you ladies. I do understand why women think they are sexy, but for some reason they just don't totally do it for me. I can't explain it really. But I will try!

Mr. Jolie. Whenever I declared that I found Clooney to be wayyyyyy hotter than Mr. Pitt, my friend over at Life is Pichey pretty much said I was dead to her. The Clooney Pitt wars are alive and well. (I will admit that Brad pre-Angelina was way hotter. I'M JUST SAYIN'.) If you agree with me, then please, go to her blog and tell her TEAM CLOONEY. hehehehe

Mr. Sexy Abs, Channing Tatum. Alright, I get it. I get that he has a smoking hot bod. And I am going to see Magic Mike tonight. And I am very much looking forward to to because it's going to be a fun girls night out. But overall, the Tatum doesn't do it for me. Not really sure why. He just isn't scruffy enough for me. And strippers do not really turn me on. Although I reserve the right to change my mind after tonight...

The Kiss Heard Round The World - Ryan Gosling. I will admit I was and am a HUGE fan of The Notebook. I still love the movie, and I thought he was perfect for that role. But now? Meh. That's all I have to say about him. Not un-hot. Just doesn't ring my bell. I think it's those uber thin lips of his. My best friend said "If that thin-lipped Gosling gets picked to play Christian Gray, I will be furious." I don't think that will happen, but he definitely is not the Christian Gray in my head.

Ryan Reynolds. Another one that the ladies swoon over but for some weird reason, I just don't find him that super attractive. Which is crazy, I know. CLEARLY. But again, meh.

So, what about y'all? Who do you think isn't all that hot that every woman on the planet swoons over? Who on this list of sexy pants do you disagree with me on? (Settle down Pichey!) ;)

And just know that the man below is laughing at all your answers because he knows that he is hotter than all of them combined.

My next post is going to be hot celebrities that I think don't get the attention I think they should. Stay tuned!
